Addiction Specialists in Baton Rouge, LA
Our addiction specialists are here to assist those suffering from addiction to drugs or alcohol. By working with patients to understand the root cause of their addiction, we help them to develop coping skills. In addition, our team provides support and guidance to patients as they work to establish healthy habits and avoid triggers for relapse. The Recovery Center of Baton Rouge also provides education and support to family members and loved ones struggling with addiction.

Robert “Case” Harvey, MD
Medical Director
Dr. Robert Case Harvey is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is also Board Certified in Addictionology. A graduate of Tulane University School of Medicine, Dr. Harvey brings a strong passion for working with professionals in safety-sensitive careers. He has a private practice at the Cataldie Clinic in Baton Rouge and is also an Attending Psychiatrist at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Dr. Harvey is a past recipient of the Outstanding Clinical Faculty Award for the Louisiana State University Residency Program.

Rudy L. Troyer, LCSW
CEO & Administrator
Rudy has worked in the addiction and mental health field since 1997. He received a B.A. degree in Psychology from Southeastern Louisiana University in December of 2000. He then earned a Master of Social Work Degree in May of 2003 from Louisiana State University. Rudy has been in private practice since 2007 specializing in Christian counseling, addictions counseling, anxiety disorders, depression, personality disorder, trauma work, family of origin work, and family intervention.
In 2010, Rudy partnered with Marcia Bannister to found The Recovery Center of Baton Rouge, LLC. He currently serves as the Chief Officer and also provides group and individual therapy at The Recovery Center. Rudy leads a Bible Study open to patients and families every Monday at 4:00pm.
Outside of work, Rudy enjoys fishing, spending time with his wife and family, gardening, reading, and sports. He is also an active member at Crossgate Church in Robert, LA and involved in the Gideons International ministry.

David "Fritz" Vogt, LCSW
Clinical Supervisor
Fritz is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker that specializes in the treatment of addictive disorders. He graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University and the Louisiana State University School of Social Work. His approach to therapy is client-centered and supportive. Being part of our addiction specialists team means he is committed to helping individuals and families achieve their personal goals while improving their overall quality of life. He looks forward to working with you.

Garrett Cheramie
Admissions Coordinator
Garrett has worked in the addiction field since 2003. He has served as a case manager, group facilitator, and admissions coordinator. Garrett is part of our addiction specialists team and is head of our admissions department at the Recovery Center. He works closely and diligently with our patients and their families both prior to, and during, the admissions process. He makes the often-times anxiety-provoking experience of entering a treatment program as comfortable and timely as possible. Garrett also works with patients in our aftercare program. Outside of work, he likes to spend time with his wife and three daughters, fish, and spend time at his camp in Grand Isle. Garrett began his own journey of recovery in 2000.

Janet Diez, RN
Nurse
Janet is a graduate of Nicholls State University in Thibodaux. She has worked in numerous areas of nursing, including the Dept. Of Corrections for 16 yrs. Having worked also with mental health disorders & substance abuse cases, she believes an important key to healing & recovery must include a holistic (mind, body, & spirit) approach to be successful. Treatment affects the patient as well as the family emotionally, physically, spiritually & socially.
She schedules & performs random weekly urine drug & alcohol screens as part of our Intensive Outpatient Program. Detox & withdrawal symptoms, if observed, can be monitored using the assessment scale & or redirected to our Physician. The Physician will then re-evaluate & advise the patient to an inpatient facility. Outside of being part of our addiction specialists team, Janet enjoys watching sports & spending time with family & friends

Marcia J. Bannister, LAC, CCS
Clinical Consultant
Marcia has worked in the addiction field since 1986. She attended both LSU in Baton Rouge, La., and Holy Cross College in New Orleans, La. where she studied criminology and graduated from the Holy Cross College addiction counseling program. Ms. Bannister is a licensed addiction counselor, a certified clinical supervisor, and a certified co-occurring disorders professional. She has worked in various addiction treatment facilities in Baton Rouge and also administered contract programs for the La. Dept. of Corrections. She has also worked for the 19th Judicial District Drug Court for over 8 years. Ms. Bannister has a total of 28 years of experience in various counseling settings including the private and public sectors and the criminal justice system. She opened her own private counseling business, Bannister Counseling Services, LLC in 2008. In late 2009 she began working with Rudy Troyer to develop and establish the addiction specialists team at The Recovery Center of Baton Rouge, LLC. Ms. Bannister is the co-owner, Executive Director and Clinical Director of The Recovery Center of Baton Rouge, LLC. She also facilitates the Codependency Program and continues her limited private practice.

Elizabeth Knox, LPC
Therapist – Women’s Program
Elizabeth “Libby” Knox is a Licensed Professional Counselor who is trained to diagnose and treat mental health disorders. Libby has five years of experience working with adults and adolescents struggling with addiction, depression, anxiety, personality concerns, OCD, and pain management issues. She earned her undergraduate degree at Louisiana State University and Master’s of Education of Counseling at Southeastern Louisiana University. Libby worked at an intensive outpatient facility. During this time she gained the skills necessary to facilitate effective group, individual and family sessions with adults and adolescents while working with multidisciplinary treatment team. Libby attained her licensure under the supervision of Dr. Richard Braniff, Ph.D., LCSW, LPC-S. Libby has two years of experience working for an addiction wellness center in a long-term program, she has experience with an outpatient population and is a board member for Louisiana Group Psychotherapy Society. Libby utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure Therapy, and Acceptance Commitment Therapy interventions to help clients meet self-identified goals.

Helen Wilson, LPC
Therapist – Women’s Program
Helen is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a Master of Arts Degree in Community Counseling (Clinical Mental Health) from Louisiana State University (2015). Helen has experience in providing individual, group, and family therapy; and working with children, adolescents, and adults. She has also received specialized training and experience in the treatment of substance use disorders and the skill of EMDR for use with individuals seeking to address personal trauma.
Helen aims to instill hope in clients and views counseling as a collaborative, empowering, and healing process in which the client and counselor work together to identify and achieve client goals in the pursuit of physical, mental, social, emotional, and spiritual growth
